U.S. on the Med

Israel Supreme Court
Welcomes illegals
To other's neighborhoods

Citizens: Are we not human beings too?

Following in the unwise steps of the U.S., Israel's Supreme Court struck down a law to detain and deport illegal immigrants. Now the invasion will take over south Tel Aviv where no justices reside.

In a Times of Israel article heded In dramatic ruling, High Court rejects Israel’s policies on illegal migrants, we learn that In a landmark ruling, the High Court of Justice knocked down the Knesset’s “infiltrator law” on Monday, declared that the practice of holding African migrants in facilities in southern Israel for up to a year was illegal, and ordered the state to shutter the contested Holot center within 90 days

The ruling may jeopardize the Court's authority as some Knesset members vow to disregard the ruling.

Lame duck Interior Minister Gideon Sa’ar said he could “not accept the verdict of the High Court,” which, if implemented, would mean “we won’t have a Jewish democratic state because our borders will be overrun… with illegal infiltrators.” He said the court had “made a mistake” and that the Knesset would now have to pass legislation preventing the High Court from intervening on the issue.

Sa'ar's only concern seems to be demographics. The people of southern Tel Aviv object to the illegals roaming freely in their neighborhoods because, they claim, many of the illegals are committing crimes - theft and rape among them.

According to the Times article, The court decision adopted the position of human rights groups and shot down an appeal submitted on behalf of the residents of southern Tel Aviv, where many migrants live and where veteran residents claim they fear for their safety. The court maintained that the extended detention of migrants was a violation of their rights.

Housing Minister Uri Ariel, of the Orthodox-nationalist Jewish Home party, said the High Court “broke a new record today on turning its back on the state of Israel.”

Jewish Home MK Ayelet Shaked, who heads the Knesset caucus on migrants, declared: “Today the lives of hundreds of thousands of Israelis were destroyed.”

A statement from the Israeli Immigration Policy Center maintained the decision “put an end to the hopes of the residents of south Tel Aviv, and to any process of removing the infiltrators."

In a related Times of Israel article, Shlomo Maslawi, leader of the Ganei HaTikvah Neighborhood Association, said, “The High Court revealed its insensitivity and accepted the appeals of human rights organizations. Are we not human beings too? Now why would the infiltrators ever leave?” Gila, another resident of south Tel Aviv, said, “This was heaven here before the Eritreans and Sudanese arrived.”

Apparently the Israeli justices take their lead from U.S. politicians and courts which have, for several administrations, made illegals legal by the swipe of a pen or a fiat from on high.

In the U.S., most of the illegals - to be politically correct, undocumented aliens - cross the border for a better life; few are - or at least were - Islamist terrorists.

In the U.S., most illegals find work and avoid criminal activities.

In the U.S., residents (except in New York City) are allowed to arm themselves to protect life and property; that is NOT the case in Israel where residents are defenseless; like New York City, only the terrorists and criminals can have weapons.

At least the U.S. is big enough to absorb the illegals; it is able to add more burdensome taxes on the legal residents to feed, house, teach, and provide medical care for the illegals. Israel is about the size of New Jersey. It already taxes its population for socialized everything and for a huge defense budget; New Jersey at least doesn't have a defense budget to worry the taxpayers.

When a court starts putting invaders ahead of the citizens rights and safety, something is wrong with the court and it needs to be abolished and re-established with a mandate to provide justice for all - not just illegal immigrants, criminals, and terrorists.

Why Israel?
UNHCR slaps Israel over invasion

From Israel HaYom: The United Nations on Sunday night criticized Israel’s policy towards illegal immigrants, as thousands of them protested in Tel Aviv, demanding that Israel recognize them as refugees and grant them asylum.

Why Israel? (OK, why not Israel; it's the UNHRC after all.)

The UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR) released a statement in which it accused Israel of “sowing fear and chaos” among the illegal aliens who, it said, should be referred to as “asylum seekers” and not “infiltrators”.

The question is: Why would a black person, especially a Muslim black person, want to escape to Israel, a country fellow Muslims claim is an "apartheid" state?

It simply makes no sense.

Perhaps these poor folks are heading to Israel to skew the country's demographics.

Had the so-called "Palestinians" been smart in the 1940s, they would have had peaceful relations with the Jews in what would become modern Israel. By having multiple wives and non-stop children, the Muslims would have outnumbered the Jews and Israel would be just another Muslim country.

Since so many of the so-called "Palestinians" fled the tiny sliver of land that became modern Israel in 1948 to make way for the glorious invading Arab armies that would drive the Jews to the sea, they lost their chance to populate to dominate.

Why don't these infiltrators - refugees, asylum seekers, illegal aliens, call them what you will - pass up up a chance to live in a good Muslim country? A look at the map below shows that they had to pass through at least one Muslim country to get into Israel.

Cubans, even today, use anything that can float to make a 90-plus mile trip from Cuba to the U.S. mainland. Haitians likewise attempt the trip.

In contract, according to the Wikipedia, the Canal is a mere 205 meters (673 ft) wide as of 2010. Granted, that's farther than the average person can swim, but it is possible to float across from Sudan and Eritrea to Saudia, from Eritrea and Ethiopia to Yemen.

From Egypt, rather than travel to "apartheid" Israel, refugees could enter Aza; it would be safer to travel along the Sinai desert at the edge of the Mediterranean Sea rather than crossing the hostile in-land routes, The seaside route would take the refugees directly to Aza, assuming Egypt would permit their transit.

I don't know what language these people speak; most assuredly it is NOT Hebrew.

Another reason, if another reason is necessary, to avoid the racist Jewish state is living area. Of all the countries the travelers could want as a destination, Israel is the most crowded.

Compare Israel's population density of nearly 950 people per square mile to Egypt, the next highest density with only 204 people per square mile. Saudia only has 35 people in a square mile! That's not to say Saudi cities are not crowded, Tel Aviv also is crowded, but Saudia has room for refugees. Moreover, Saudia knows how to accommodate a massive influx of people (for the haj).

Information from the World Atlas

If these people are, indeed, refugees - I am not questioning their reasons for leaving the lands of their birth - let the UN set up lifetime camps for them as it did for the so-called "Palestinian" refugees in a Muslim country - not Israel.

Israel is hard pressed to take care of its own, and then to provide medical care for Syrians injured in that country's civil war should get the UN's sympathy and offer of assistance to relocate the invaders to a more suitable host country.

Criticizing Israel for humanely deporting illegal immigrants is unfair, albeit typical of the UN.

Illegals

"Undocumented aliens" to be PC

At a post-Shabat gathering of a bunch of ex-pat Israelis the guy next to me - a good friend - asked what I would do about the illegal immigrants to the U.S.

Simple, I said, throw them out.

What? Throw them out? Where's your Jewish mercy?

What I should have done is give him the following example which I believe to be accurate.

Let's say the U.S. has an immigration quota for Israel of 10 Israelis-a-year.

We'll use small number for convenience - and that I can manage.

There are 100 Israelis waiting to immigrate; 100 Israelis doing it according to the law.

Now, there are 20 Israelis in the U.S. illegally. They came on tourist visas and "disappeared." They are productive. They are working and getting paid - under the table so the IRS knows nothing of them - they are buying things (sadly, most of which are "Made in China") and spending much of what they make where they make it. They have managed, by slight-of-hand, to integrate into the community; kids in schools, driver's license, etc. No Social Security. Since the Israeli requires a residence, he or she is paying property taxes (directly or as part of the rent) to support local services: library, hospital, emergency services, etc.).

OK.

POTUS (President Of The United States) declares that all illegal aliens are henceforth LEGAL aliens and they are on a "fast track" to citizenship. For this tirade, that means 20 illegally-in-the-U.S. Israelis now are legal.

By the way, this amnesty business is done by presidents of both parties, a trend started by Republican Ronald Reagan in 1986.

Remember that the U.S. - in our demonstration - allows 10 Israelis-per-year to enter legally to become U.S. citizens.

The amnesty just used up two years of Israeli immigration.

Remember the Israelis in the line at positions 91 through 100?

They expected to be considered for immigration in 10 years, assuming they live that long.

NOW they need to wait two EXTRA years for a total of 12 years.

MEANWHILE, back on the shores of America, more Israelis are sneaking in. Overstayed visitor visas, overstayed student visas, overstayed any visa. Aside from overstaying the visa, the only laws that may have been broken are the prohibition to work and tax evasion. They expect that another president will grant yet another amnesty and our hopeful at the end of the line can expect to reach these shores in time to be buried here - maybe.

As my friend pointed out, the government - and I heartily agree - should go after the employers
.

But the fact remains: the illegal immigrants - sorry, "undocumented aliens" - ARE here illegally, they ARE breaking the law, and in breaking the law they risk both deportation and a refusal by the U.S. government to issue them a new visa for "n" years.

I'll concede that the immigration laws and quotas need to be revisited. When the quotas were established many of the countries whose citizens want to come to the U.S. didn't exist.

The U.S. rewarded Al Capone with a prison sentence for his crimes - he was caught for tax evasion.

The U.S. government wants to reward secret revealer Edward Snowdon with a lifetime of free room and board, with medical care; the only "catch" is that his freedom will be forfeit.

Why, then, should the U.S. government reward people who committed a crime by entering, or remaining, in the U.S. illegally? (Never mind tax evasion.)

Does the U.S. need the foreign workers?

Yes, and no.

Americans - like modern Israelis - are "too good" to do "stoop labor" and nasty jobs. Latinos are allowed into the country on work visas to work farms and to raise our children. In Israel, Filipinos are allowed into the country to care for the elderly and ill. (And Israel, following the U.S. lead, gave citizenship to many of these people who managed to give birth there.) Arabs from occupied Israel (the so-called West Bank) are allowed in to perform the work Latinos do in the U.S.

Do we really need Israelis as local kashrut supervisors, hazenim, teachers, or even rabbis? Don't we have enough American Jews with the knowledge to overwhelm the job market? (Granted there are no Sefardi yeshivot so importing Sefardi educators might be in order.)

My friend accuses me of lacking "Jewish mercy." The "undocumented immigrant" is only trying to make a buck, he says.

But my friend sees only the person already in this country. He fails to see the person at the end of the line, trying to LEGALLY enter this nation so he, too, can make a buck.

Level the playing field. Send the illegal immigrate out - I don't care where; let the illegal decide - anyplace that will take him and by any means of transportation for which he can buy a ticket.

If the illegal cannot afford to leave, let him be a "guest" of the federal prison system to earn his transportation to "wherever." (If he had a permanent employer, make the employer pay for the illegal's stay in the lock-up.)

It is NOT a lack of "Jewish mercy" to toss out the illegals; it is an act of mercy to give the guy at the end of the queue a chance to realize his dream - legally.

Whose country is it?

"Florida finally got Federal permission - read "Obama finally allowed it" - to access Federal data regarding illegal immigrants.

Why does Florida want the information?

To purge illegal immigrants from its voter registration lists.

According to tv "news" talking heads, the majority of names on the illegals list are Hispanic, and purging illegals will upset the state's Hispanic population.

Oh my.

I have serious doubts that South Florida's Hispanic population will be much up in arms, protesting this politically incorrect action. A goodly portion of them at least claim to be strong conservatives who should want to assure only legal residents can vote.

I'd like to lay the illegal immigrants problem on Obama's door. It DOES belong at a door of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, and Obama has played his role in increasing illegal immigration and illegal voting registration.

It occurs to me, however, that it was Republicans who promoted "motor voter registration" with minimal proof of citizenship requirements.

It was Republican administrations - including the Conservative's model, Ronald Reagan - that gave blanket citizenship to some illegals and put other illegals on a "fast track" to citizenship, ahead of people who legally hope to immigrate to the United States.

It is easier to register to vote than it now is to get a Florida driver's license. When I next renew my Florida license I'm informed I will have to show my birth certificate. My U.S. passport won't do. (Excuse me, we have a man in the White House who stonewalled the country for years - years - before producing what some believe is a phony birth certificate. )

My U.S. passport, combined with my DD214 showing I served my country, is not enough. That is more than the incumbent of 1600 Pennsylvania can do and it's more than many, perhaps most, of today's elected officials can do. A local Congressman, Rep. Allen West (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_West) is an exception.

Trouble is, purging the roles of illegal immigrants is not politically correct.

These people broke the law - several times - so they deserve the right to influence how the country is run.

They broke the law by their illegal entry.

They broke the law by lying when they registered to vote.

I don't care if the illegals are Hispanic or British or Israeli - and we have far too many illegals from Israel - of Vietnamese or ... pick a nationality.

Having lived overseas, I know things are better in the U.S. I know the economies of many Latin American countries are worse than in the U.S. And I know that if the quota system still is in place - this is the system that sent many Jews, Roma, and others to their deaths at the hands of the nazis - it needs to be scrapped or at least revisited in light of 2012. Why should Brits, whose country has as high a standard of living as the U.S., be given preference to immigrate?

I've no complaint about immigrants; my great-grandparents were immigrants; my wife is an immigrant. I DO have a problem with ILlegal immigrants.

Not only do they take up space in our citizen-paid schools and fill our charity hospital beds, many also help fill our jails since the "American way" is not their way. Muslims, for example, seem to have no problem with honor killings - a daughter is raped and her family kills her - not the rapists who in the end go free - but the victim!

It's nice that some of the illegals otherwise behave as good citizens, and I have a little empathy for the children of illegals who were brought here in infancy and know no other home.

But illegal still is illegal.

Purging the voter registration roles is a good first step.

The Feds - INS, FBI, Homeland Security - need to follow up and arrest the people purged from the roles not just for illegally entering the U.S., but for lying about their citizenship status to voter registrars. I suspect that, given the way the Feds protect their rights, local law enforcement would be prevented from making the arrests.

It happened before Obama's watch. It continues under Obama's watch. They only difference is that Obama's administration made serious efforts to protect the illegals voting "rights," rights to which they were not, are not, entitled.

It's time America's citizens, native and naturalized, take their country back.

We should welcome LEGAL immigrants.

We should welcome - and control - everyone who enters the country on any limited-duration visa - students, visitors, temporary workers.
